The Des Moines Film Society and Des Moines Social Club are proud to present another Open Screen Night.

Have you ever been to an open mic? This is the same idea, only with video as opposed to live performances. Open Screen is a forum for any filmmaker to share their work with a live audience. Submit your own work or just come to enjoy the show. Last February’s Open Screen was a packed house with a great program of short films.

New: We heard from several filmmakers and just film fans who wanted a chance to mingle after the show. So this time, we will have an informal social hour in the Basement bar (downstairs in the Kum & Go Theater) immediately following the Open Screen.

Submissions can include just about anything: short films, music videos, experimental pieces, found footage, etc. We prefer films of 10 minutes or less, just to keep the night moving. Works that have screened previously, such as via the 48-hour Film Festival, or are already posted online, are perfectly fine to submit.

To submit, please e-mail the following to ben@desmoinesfilm.org:

– Title of the work and name of the person making the submission
– A short summary of the submission
– A link to a downloadable version of the film, such as via WeTransfer, Dropbox, etc.

The submission committee reserves the right to decide which films are included, though our intention is to include as many films as possible within the time allotted.
