Today we are proud to launch the Home Cinema Club, a unique opportunity for you to discover great movies, watch them at home, then meet-up with other film lovers to discuss over drinks.
Here’s how it will work:
- Each month, we’ll pick a movie that we think is worth watching and discussing. The movies will be available on Netflix, though in many cases they will also be available at your local library, a great video store like Video Warehouse, and elsewhere.
- You watch the movie at home on your own time.
- We’ll get together the last Tuesday of the month at 6pm at The Lift, 222 4th St, to discuss over drinks. No lecture or presentation; just a chance to hang out with other film lovers who watched the same film you did.
We will be kicking off Home Cinema Club with a movie we love which is open to all kinds of discussion and interpretation… Upstream Color. Shane Caruth’s 2013 film – the long-awaited follow-up to Primer – follows a woman and a man who are drawn together by a complex natural force they do not understand.
And because this is the kick-off, we’re throwing in a bonus short film: World of Tomorrow, Don Hertzfeldt’s imaginative 2015 short film, nominated for an Oscar.
Enjoy the films and we’ll see you at 6pm, Tue. Feb. 28 at The Lift.
