You built DMFS; We need you again

We came to you last year at this time and asked you to make a donation to help us grow the film scene in Des Moines. You came through and we delivered.

We promised: A membership program with exclusive benefits
We delivered: A membership program with discounts to all DMFS events

We promised: Special screenings with visiting filmmakers
We delivered: Exclusive premiere screenings and filmmaker Q&As with Sundance Winner Birth of a Nation and Brent Roske’s Courting Des Moines

We promised: More screening opportunities for local filmmakers
We delivered: Regular Open Screen Nights at Des Moines Social Club

We promised: An expanded website to act as your hub for what’s going on in Des Moines
We delivered: The new desmoinesfilm.org, featuring the best film programming in Des Moines whether we are producing it or not

We promised: A quarterly cocktail hour meet-up for members and fans
We delivered: …. okay, we’re still working on this one, but come out to our Open House on Saturday night and have a beer on us.

We also brought back Alloy Orchestra to perform another silent film score, debuted the Lost Films Poster Art Show, embarked on our first Cinema Road Trip to see The Hateful Eight in 70mm, featured some great original, local film writing on our blog, and more.

We will do even more in 2017, but we need your support.

In addition to our biggest show yet, Birdman Live with Antonio Sanchez, we plan to lay the groundwork for a full-scale regional film festival. We will continue to present many of the events we established in 2016 and further expand our programming – more films, more special events, more fun.

We’ve got big goals; how quickly we can achieve them depends on you. In your end-of-year giving, please donate to support Des Moines Film Society.

Thank you,
Ben Godar
DMFS Board President
