Join the Home Cinema Club

Today we are proud to launch the Home Cinema Club, a unique opportunity for you to discover great movies, watch them at home, then meet-up with other film lovers to discuss over drinks.

Here’s how it will work:

  1. Each month, we’ll pick a movie that we think is worth watching and discussing. The movies will be available on Netflix, though in many cases they will also be available at your local library, a great video store like Video Warehouse, and elsewhere.
  2. You watch the movie at home on your own time.
  3. We’ll get together the last Tuesday of the month at 6pm at The Lift, 222 4th St, to discuss over drinks. No lecture or presentation; just a chance to hang out with other film lovers who watched the same film you did.

We will be kicking off Home Cinema Club with a movie we love which is open to all kinds of discussion and interpretation… Upstream Color. Shane Caruth’s 2013 film – the long-awaited follow-up to Primer – follows a woman and a man who are drawn together by a complex natural force they do not understand.

And because this is the kick-off, we’re throwing in a bonus short film: World of Tomorrow, Don Hertzfeldt’s imaginative 2015 short film, nominated for an Oscar.

Enjoy the films and we’ll see you at 6pm, Tue. Feb. 28 at The Lift.
